It was because of the benevolence of the Quilon brothers namely: Cesar, Dr. Augusto Sr. and David that Doña Basilia S. Quilon Memorial High School now exists... and through the efforts of a few head starters... this school was started.
Doña Basilia S. Quilon Memorial High School (formerly Bagong Sirang High School) is an extension school of Curry High School now Altamarino-Clasio High School for the past eight school years, from 2004 to 2012. It is named after the late Doña Basilia Salva Quilon, site donor and a native of Bagong Sirang.
Putting up a public secondary school in a barangay is not easy. It is hard and a challenging job which requires a combination of different virtues to anyone who is dreaming to have it. But for Mr. Edmundo B. Aladano, who wishes and aims NOTHING BUT TO HELP uplift his barangay folks who are financially unstable and less fortunate - the impossible dream of bringing education near them is NOT IMPOSSIBLE. For him it is a Godly mission. And he is right, because when he presented his idea of putting up a high school in his own barangay during the 36th Commencement Exercises of Bagong Sirang Elementary School where he was invited to speak with the late Brgy. Captain Salvador C. Borbe together with Mr. Pedro T. Bustarga - the school head of Bagong Sirang Elementary School and with almost 100% parents in attendance during the said occasion all had unanimously, excitedly and happily agreed and approved his idea. Happiness and feelings of hope were seen on their faces.
The incident of opening and airing the idea of putting up a high school was again repeated during the barangay assembly on May 2004 with Mayor Tomas P. Bongalonta Jr. who happened to be the guest speaker of the said assembly. Upon knowing the plan of Mr. Edmundo B. Aladano, the good Mayor immediately approved the plan of having or putting up a high school in Bagong Sirang and he also promised support upon approval by then Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Lucita L. Año.
Mr. Aladano begun to visit and invite every family in Bagong Sirang including the nearby barangays whom he knew had incoming first year high school students, hence, enrolment for the school year 2004-2005 was successfully done. Thus, the birth of Doña Basilia S. Quilon Memorial High School.
It was through the significant efforts of these benevolent leaders that Doña Basilia S. Quilon Memorial High School has made it possible to be where it is now. Each year brings out a new phase of improvement with the thought of adhering to the vision and mission of the DepEd and always with the hope of molding the youth for the nation's progress.
